Rock ‘n Roll: I’ve always loved shooting rock ‘n roll shows.  There is a certain energy sure.  But, the charge comes from that tension of knowing “the shot” will come at any moment.  You gotta be ready and you gotta click at just that second.  Capturing the essence of a show is hard in large part because an abundance of light, sound, movement, and emotion.  Lots of stimulus to process.  Video is a far more effective medium for representing what it is like to be there.  With a photograph, I revert to looking for the emotion of the moment and seeing if I can coax that out of an image.  I love to play with the light – emphasize it or back it down.  Change it too.  The same with motion.  A tack sharp image often times ends up looking too static.

This gallery of four images is from a U2 show.  This series is completely different from any of my other concert images.  First, these pieces are painted.  Then there is the fact that each is a mashups of many images and in some cases interesting artistic effects.  By and large, this is an experiment.  I’m not sure where it will go.  But, I’m confident the journey will be exciting.  Hope you enjoy the show!
