We’ve Moved!

Moving is always tough. Packing, loading, unpacking, etc. Easier though is moving your blog. Which is what I’m talkin’ ‘bout here. Physically we’re in the same place. Cyberspacially, we’ve relocated the blog to www.mikejamesphoto.com–the newly revised, completely reformatted, and outrageously fun site for my foto work (IMHO). Also, did I mention that it’s a dream to navigate the site on the iPad (in landscape orientation)? I tested every page on the iPad to make sure it was a pleasurable experience.

Re-interpreting oneself is a tricky thing. It’s done now. www.mikejamesphoto.com is all new (and improved). So. Changes made in pen, so-to-speak. I wanted a site that was iPad friendly. No flash. And, no Flash (as in Adobe). Something that looks good in 1024x768x132. Done, dog!
The new site rocks on the iPad–in my humble opinion. The other reason... With MobileMe hosting slipping away, it was time to re-think what to do with 7nSeven. The 7nSeven site will stay aloft for a while, but mikejamesphoto is now going to be the place where I hang my proverbial shingle. Bookmark it. Blackmark it. Whichever you prefer. So. All those Polaroid images of the flora and fauna grew to a total of 40 or so pieces and it was hard for me to keep track of which was which. Probably an age thing. Our 16@49 show open’d at Modernbook, 49 Geary Street, in San Francisco to great fanfare and accolades. All part of the fun of being with a really talented bunch of other fotogs. But now. We’re winding down with a close of April 2 looming over our heads like a big rain cloud. Wait. That is a big rain cloud. Nothin’ enough to stop a party. So, a few of us are throwing a wine, cheese, meet ‘n greet tomorrow (Sat) at the gallery from 2 – 430p. Please come by and visit if you can.

Gallery Show In March

Mark the calendar for March 3. 5:30p. That’s the opening of the show 16@49. Sixteen photographers -- of which I’m one -- are mounting a show at Modernbook Gallery, 49 Geary Street, San Francisco.

Putting the show together is a collaborative, two month effort. We meet once a week to work through all the details of what it takes to bring a show to life. Well into the process now, so I can say I’m very impressed with the artists and humbled to be part of the group. As for my work, you’ll see 13 Polaroid transfers from the series: In the Garden.
